I´m posting this update to keep everyone informed of the situation here in Spain and to add a few personal comments.
The Situation In Spain
Spain is undergoing a gradual and controlled return to “normality” with a staged approach that´s designed to safeguard as much as possible against further outbreaks. The method is a phased approach, with restrictions and practices being amended as each phase passes. Regional and national governement are in regular contact with every sector of the economy in order to establish specific safety measures and operating practices.
As of today (18th May 2020) from a legal perspective, nature tourism in Spain can resume, albeit of course with such safety measures in place. At present, this relates to group size, social distancing, PPE and the disinfecting and cleaning of vehicles and optical equipment, all very wise and well thought-through measures. Should anyone wish to know more in detail about the specific measures that we are to adopt and how these will work in real terms, I´d be more than happy to explain. A such, please do not hesitate to contact me for more details if required.
Future Bookings
Furthermore, I feel that I have to add a personal point if I may. We all of course have to make a living, and like many businesses, mine has been hit very hard by the effects of Corona Virus. I of course would love to see clients and a return to the vocation that I love. However, I will take a measured and human approach to this and as such would like to convey my key message… A critically important element of my business is the client and the relationships and contact that I enjoy with all. Only bird welfare comes before that. Therefore, I will not blatantly advertise in a way that distastefully or unwisely encourages people to travel when they feel uncomfortable or unsafe in doing so. Many people have had to cancel trips due to Corona Virus, and I share the disappointment that brings. But everyone´s own individual case is different, taking into consideration age, health, philosophy and opinion. Therefore, I prefer to respect this and simply say that whenever people feel comfortable to travel, and not before, I´d be thrilled to provide trips or holidays for you. After all, this is the job that I love and the business that I established almost ten years ago. So, instead of embarking on a pushy advertisement campaign, my message is one of understanding, patience and respect. Whenever you feel ready to consider a trip, please feel free to contact me and we can discuss all the relevant details including the overall situation here in Spain and the safety measures that we have in place.
In the meantime, Valencia Birding continues and I´d love for us to keep in touch. As such I´ll be publishing articles, photos and videos on a regular basis.
